Australian audio gear maker RODE continues to expand its product lineup by offering more versatile options to its customer base. Earlier this week, the company has made the VideoMic Me-C available as a standalone microphone for USB-C devices. Until now, the only way to get the unit was through a purchase of the RODE Vlogger Kit.
In a nutshell, the VideoMic Me-C is a compact and lightweight microphone designed to deliver significantly better audio than the onboard microphone on your mobile device. The shotgun mic plugs right into your compatible smartphone or tablet via its USB-C connection.
The VideoMic Me-C has a directional polar pattern and offers a 3.5mm TRS jack, which can be used for monitoring or for backup analog recording when it’s tethered to a USB-C port. Even though the mic can mount directly on top of your USB port, it comes with a dedicated mic clip for further convenience as well as a furry windshield for seamless recording outdoors.
When connected over USB, the VideoMic Me-C captures audio in high-quality 48 kHz/24-bit while significantly eliminating unwanted room noise and ambiance with its cardioid condenser capsule. The mic works seamlessly with the RØDE Reporter App as well as other recording apps, giving you versatility in the field.
