Canon has just introduced three new EOS webcam accessories starter kits for the Canon EOS RP as well as some Canon EOS M and Rebel cameras. These kits consists of a power adapter, DC coupler, and USB cable to make your live streaming or video calls look more professional.
For over a year now, camera manufacturers have been pushing tools to use your favorite video camera as a webcam. Indeed, built-in computers’ webcams are usually not very high-quality, and we are forced to do fewer real-life meetings and more video calls. There’s a need for more professional-looking video calls, and camera manufacturers acted quickly.
In May 2020, Canon introduced its Canon EOS Webcam Utility software that allows you to use nearly every Canon DSLR/Mirrorless/Compact camera as a webcam. A couple of weeks later, they launched the same software for macOS users, so everybody can now use it.
The main issue when using a video camera as a webcam is that you rely on the battery you put inside the camera at the beginning of your call. If you run out of juice, your camera will shut down, and so will your webcam. To solve that problem, Canon has just released three Canon EOS webcam accessories starter kits.
Canon EOS Webcam Accessories Starter Kits
Canon developed three Canon EOS webcam accessories starter kits:
- One kit for the Canon EOS M50, M50 Mark II & M200.
- A kit for the Canon EOS Rebel T7/T6/T5/T3.
- And a kit for the Canon EOS RP.
Each kit consists of a power adapter/AC adapter, a DC coupler that goes into your camera, and a USB cable. With these kits, you’ll be able to use your Canon camera as a webcam for as long as you want to.
Price and Availability
All kits are available to pre-order now and will start shipping on March 25th. The kits for the Canon EOS M and Canon EOS Rebel both retail for $89.00, and the kit for the Canon EOS RP is $159.00.
